Prime Batteries has been selected as the BESS supplier for Electrica’s first standalone energy storage project, delivering the 70 MWh Fântânele Energy Storage Facility in Mureș County with a EUR 16.5 million investment, alongside ENEVO Group and SIMTEL. This project contributes to scaling Romania’s grid-scale storage infrastructure toward 1 GWh of execution capacity, enhancing grid flexibility and renewable integration.
In partnership with Monsson, Prime Batteries is rolling out energy storage solutions in dedicated warehouse facilities for renewable energy operators, starting with a 15 MWh system for Veroniki Wind delivered as a full EPC project. The system optimizes wind farm production and enhances operational flexibility.
This move positions Romania at the core of the European and global battery value chain, supporting local production, strategic partnerships, and EU energy autonomy, while contributing to Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and decarbonization efforts in the decades ahead.
Prime Batteries was honoured with the “Catalyst for Energynomics’ Vision” award at the Energynomics Awards 2025, recognizing the company’s commitment to driving the energy transition through in-house technology and locally manufactured solutions.
At the Wind Technology & Innovation Forum organized by RWEA, Prime Batteries’ CEO, Vicentiu Ciobanu, emphasized that battery integration is what turns hybrid renewable projects from simple capacity numbers into controllable, grid-supporting power. Batteries manage production gaps, control output timing, and provide stability that wind or solar alone cannot achieve.
